Poem short answer response
Marilyn Monroe was the woman of the 20th century and everyone knew it. Her hard childhood and teen years had her turn out to be one of the most remembered and legendary role model for women. In “Miss Marilyn,” Shayne Mitchell describes Marilyn as, “an angel, an inspiration, a vision,” and “the goddess of her time.”. Everyone thought of Marilyn that way and believed she was perfect. Everyone wanted to be her or be with her. But no one knew what her life was really like personally. In the untitled poem by Deasia Hairston, she says, “sexy, beautiful, talented, smart, trustworthy, and polite,” but then she also goes to say, “a woman with heart and soul, but felt that her image was taking control.” She’s talking about how Marilyn was perceived to everyone as just a happy, beautiful girl, but also lived a short, fast, dramatic life that took a toll on herself.
